interCONTAINER - Australia interCONTAINER Australia was incorporated with a view to providing a dedicated service in the Freight Forwarding Industry, which involves the movement of commodities between Worldwide Ports and Australia's major Ports. The Company was specifically designed to cater for the necessities of Australian Importers, providing a personalised service, from liaising with their overseas suppliers, to efficiently arrange for the transportation of their cargo from the factory/warehouse to the vessel and the shipment of these goods to the nominated Australian Port. Due to the introduction of containerisation, the handling and transportation of all products has been streamlined over recent years, coupled with the world-wide change within the transport industry and to the way goods and cargo were handled. With the recent expansion of the 'ASEAN' region, in which Australia is a part, our principal objectives concentrated on Imports from this area. Our initial markets and generation of freight began with development of traffic from Thailand and since then, has diversified Our dedication to service and specialisation in Freight Forwarding would not have evolved if we had regarded the shipment of freight as merely a matter of covering long distances. If this was the case, we would be no different from any other forwarding operation. Initially concentrating on the ASEAN market, we are now expanding and enhancing the Company with both the European and American market, which will extend from the smallest package to Heavy Cargo lifts, thus in essence, our Forwarding is not restricted to any one area or market, but servicing the world. Our centralised computer system enables an efficient tracking ability of all shipments into all Australian Ports, enabling us to provide the Importer efficient up-to-date location of cargo from the Load Port Overseas to the Discharge Port within Australia. Hence, our long-term objectives are to provide an overall efficient mode of transport and communications for the Importer. Back to the top of page FACILITIES The offices of interCONTAINER Australia are all fully computerised with a centrally-based integrated computer system, able to provide full tracking and shipment monitoring, computer-generated advices for both Import and Export customers and overseas Agents, together with a fully enhanced CARGO INPUT advice system. In order to facilitate the changing requirements of both Shippers and Consignees, interCONTAINER Australia, in conjunction with their software computer designers, have been able to design their computer system that allows a client to access the data-base information, to monitor their own shipments, from data input directly from Overseas LAN-compatible systems. This provides up-to-date information about cargo that has been received into an overseas warehouse, pending shipment. Development of a full EDI capability allows interCONTAINER Australia to provide the necessary data to expedite delivery of cargo at the Discharge Port, PRIOR to the vessel's arrival. interCONTAINER'S computer network covers all facilities at Ports within Australia. For export shipments, all pertinent data can be transmitted to the Overseas representative via E.D.I., providing the data for J.I.T. (Just In Time) shipments.
